Our story

1950s
In 1952, Georgios Kaloidas creates the first workshop which was used exclusively to produce pita breads. This succeeded the traditional family bakery, which had been operating since 1922. A few years later, the company moves to its own building in Kallithea.
The mechanical equipment begins to be modernised, with the installation of cyclothermic automatic baking ovens and two production lines.
1960s
With the launch of the first dough processing machine, 30% of the production line is automated.
1970s
The company also expands its activities abroad. The success of the international business leads to a new 2,500 square meter industrial unit in Aspropyrgos being bought. The company’s presence at the ANUGA exhibition also seals its position in the international market. In 1984, M. KALOIDAS and Co. Ltd. is introduced to the market under the trade name ELVIART.
1980s
ELVIART's new facilities in Aspropyrgos, with state-of-the-art technology, increase production capacity by 50%. The company's dynamic presence expands abroad with the founding of KALOIDAS GmbH in Frankfurt, Germany, and in 1997 the company obtains HACCP Food Safety Management Certification.
1990s
Production is boosted by a new state-of-the-art production line which produces a larger variety of bakery products such as pizza, pocket oval pita, burger buns, etc. & the company begins selling items such as potatoes, oils, etc. Production approaches 450,000 units per day.
2000 – 2005
ELVIART modernises its corporate identity, renews its corporate trademarks and packaging & obtains ISO 22000: 2005 Food Safety Management System Certification.
2006 – 2010
The company achieves the international BRC standard in food safety.
2012
M Kaloidas and his son, G. Kaloidas, acquire a portion of the shares and the entire business is transferred to them.
2013
A landmark year, which sees the launch of “Pita Premium” - a pita that it so fluffy that it immediately stands out from the other products on the souvlaki restaurant market and, later, in the retail market.
2015
The company receives food certification according to the HALAL standard and the machinery is upgraded by purchasing a new HARTMANN automated collection machine, and new metal detector and weight control equipment.
