Why do some pitas breads have 15 or 12 days of shelf life and some have less?<\/div>
<\/p>\n

The difference in the shelf life of each product depends on the way it is packed, the recipe and the purpose it serves.<\/p>\n

For example, retail products<\/strong> have a shelf life of 12 to 15 days from the date of production. This means they can be consumed within a longer time from the date they were bought at the supermarket. In contrast, products for professionals<\/strong> have a much shorter shelf life, as the products have to be distributed daily so there is no need for the buyers to store the products for several days.<\/p>\n

Why does the package show 2 expiry dates?<\/div>
<\/p>\n

Each package will show two expiry dates for the product. The first date shows when fresh products on the supermarket shelves expire. The second date relates to frozen products, which are usually distributed to our associates outside Attica.<\/p>\n

If a consumer who purchases a fresh product wishes to keep it beyond the expiry date given for the fresh product, he can place it in his freezer 4-5 days before its expiry date, and keep it for up to 1 year.<\/p>\n

What do BRC and HALAL certification mean?<\/div>
<\/p>\n

In addition to ISO 22000\/2005 certification, our company also has BRC certification, which applies to international food safety management standards. The audit process is annual and focuses on specific points, processes and requirements that the company has to adhere to and which it must comply with in order to successfully pass the audit and obtain certification. Audits cover all stages, from the choice of suppliers and raw materials to the production process and the handling of the final product. Our company has international BRC certification rating A which is one of the standard\u2019s highest grades.<\/p>\n

Most of our products are also Halal certified, which means they can be safely used by the Muslim community. This standard is based on the same hygiene principles as ISO: 22000-2005. In addition, it includes differentiated requirements as to the suitability of raw materials, packaging materials and production processes, which must comply with the requirements of Islam (no alcohol or ingredients\/animal by-products – pigs).<\/p>\n

How should I store your products at home or in my shop?<\/div>
<\/p>\n

All the details written on the packs about how many days the items can be stored for refer to the package when it is still unopened, just as it was when purchased. Once the packaging has been opened, its contents begin to degrade as the conditions under which they were packed no longer exist.<\/p>\n

Once the packaging has been opened, fresh products<\/strong> should be consumed within 2 days when kept in the fridge at 0 – 5\u00b0C.<\/p>\n

Frozen products<\/strong> which have been defrosted should be consumed within 2 days when kept in the fridge at 0 – 5\u00b0C.\u00a0Alternatively, if the packaging is in the freezer, it can be kept for up to a year from the date of production. So, every time you want to eat a pita bread, you can take it out of the freezer, heat it up and then enjoy eating it without any safety concerns.<\/p>\n

For professionals using food service<\/strong> codes, once the packaging is opened products with a shelf life of 4 to 5 days should be consumed within 24 hours if they are not kept in the fridge. It is recommended that they should be kept it in a cool, shady place away from heat and humidity. Alternatively, if kept in a refrigerator, they can be used up to the expiry date, especially in professional kitchens.<\/p>\n

Within how many days should I eat the pitas once I have taken the package out of the freezer? Can I keep them in the fridge for longer?<\/div>

If you buy our products frozen, or you freeze them after buying them fresh, we recommend eating them within 2 days of defrosting, providing you keep them in the refrigerator.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Yes. All products are suitable for those who are fasting as none of the ingredients or raw materials come from animal products.<\/p>\n
